Day 6  :  Barafu Camp Climbing to Summit (Uhuru Peak) to Mweka Camp

The most challenging and rewarding day lies ahead. We wake up before midnight and begin a steep climb over loose volcanic scree, using well-graded zig-zags and maintaining a slow but steady pace. We'll reach the rim of the main crater, Stella Point (5735m), where a short rest will reward us with a breathtaking sunrise (weather permitting). The next leg of the journey, about an hour, will be spent traversing snow to reach Uhuru Peak, the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro and the entire continent of Africa. After soaking in the achievement, we start the descent, passing Barafu for lunch. The climb continues to Mweka Camp, located in the upper forest at approximately 3100m. In the late afternoon, mist or rain may be expected. This day involves a total of 10-14 hours of walking.

After a satisfying lunch, we drive back to Moshi on your hotel, where you can unwind and celebrate your achievement. The climb takes around 3-5 hours on this day.
